How is allergy testing done in Korea?

Skin prick testing (SPT) is the standard method — small amounts of allergens are applied to the skin and reactions are read after 15 minutes. Blood-based allergy panels are also available for patients who cannot do skin tests.

Is allergen immunotherapy available in Korea?

Yes. Immunotherapy (allergy shots or sublingual drops) gradually desensitises your immune system to specific allergens over several years and is available at allergy clinics in Seoul.

Is allergy testing covered by NHIS?

Allergy testing and treatment for medically confirmed allergies is covered by NHIS when medically indicated. Cosmetic or lifestyle-related allergy assessments may not be covered.
